Christchurch Earthquake

Anyone at home will be waking up the news of the Earthquake in the next few hours.
So far we have been extremely lucky and are okay although it gave us a real fright when it first kicked off.
We are about 5km from the city centre in a modern single storey house built on a concrete pad staying with a Guzzi friend so we are very fortunate. We have been told to stay put for now as the roads are gridlocked anyway, we will try to get out tomorrow.
We are still getting severe aftershocks now which make the entire house shake like a rag doll but we are in a safe place so we are staying put for now. We would love to help those less fortunate but we have been told to stay away from the centre as its obviously unsafe. The city centre is a mess and a lot of people have been seriously hurt and killed so our thoughts are with them and their families.

Well that was a close one, we could have all been there when it happened, you were too close for comfort. Hopefully you are finding it a bit calmer up north, it still seems weird getting used to still being here in the UK instead of in NZ, still today the sun is shining & Spring is in the air, even if the wind is stil rather on the chilly side. Stay safe & happy,
    love M&D

Hi guys. Really sorry we missed you in Wellington. Thought we’d better check in after the earthquake – glad you’re both OK. Our thoughts are with everyone down there. Keep safe.

Sprout told me about the earthquake and I said what are the chances K&K are in Christchurch? How unlucky! Anyway, so glad to hear you are safe and well. It sounds like it was a bad one, causing considerable damage and loss of life. Will keep up to date with the news on TV.
We’ve still got grey, wet, cold weather here but everything’s still standing! By the way, were the hot rods as good as ours??? We might be buying a new bike – a BMW F650 CS – for touring and getting rid of the Firestorm. Went to see one today, v comfortable and no headbutting at every gear change! Good luck and let’s hope the earth does NOT move for you for a while …
