Happy New Year 2016

Happy New Year Everyone

Firstly sorry we have been out of touch for so long.

We thought coming home and rejoining “normality” last year was a bit of a roller coaster ride, then just when we thought things were coming together we got flipped upside down again.

An ever increasing workload and lots of other jobs and projects reduced our free time to practically zero toward the end of last year which is partly why the blogs also ground to a halt.

That situation isn’t likely to change for the foreseeable future either as we are still looking after Kevs Mum whose condition has worsened quite severely. She has been in hospital for the last month and we have a meeting in January with the doctors to try to establish if and when she is going to be able to come home. She is determined not to end up in a nursing home and we are trying our best to prevent that but its becoming increasingly difficult. This situation had to be our main priority and will be for the foreseeable future.

Life hasn’t been all bad, we are okay and managed to squeeze in a few short breaks last year mostly in our camper van. One of these trips was to see the carnival floats that do a circuit around Glastonbury and the surrounding towns.

We got both our road bikes on the road last year although I must admit we only go out for day rides. The Spada is sadly under a cover waiting for me to find time to do something with it. It will happen eventually but who knows when. We are living in Kevs Mum’s house through necessity but our main project last year was building our shed at the bottom of the garden which is nearly finished. Its purpose is to give us somewhere that is our own space where we can do computer stuff and play our own music etc. We built it from scratch using lots of recycled materials (stuff other people were throwing away)

We had a nice Christmas break with Karens family while my sister held the fort at home. 2016 looks like it will be another challenging year for us but we will make the best of it.

Karen and Kev, I hope you folks manage to get back out on the road soon. Kudos for admitting the family is the biggest priority. First reading about your travels in 2014 in Rider Magazine, and now catching up to your blog. Thank you for spreading the travel bug. My wife and I are desiring world travel, and your inspiration will aid us. Thank you and good luck!
