Northampton proved to be a hidden gem, it is one of WA’s historic towns together with York and Albany. The locals have taken this to heart and have preserved buildings, artifacts and machinery from bygone days to show the towns history. The campsite in town was also friendly, clean, and comparitively cheap. The owners wife was [...]

You’d think we’d be sick of gorges and national parks by now but Kalbarri is different again, we had just caught the tail end of the wild flower season (July – Nov) and for the first time in over four months we saw colours other than red dirt, dry greens and browns. We were treated [...]

The ride back out from the Exmouth Peninsula was a long one, along the way we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn for the second time which signalled that we had moved down from the tropical north and just in time. Our immediate destination was Carnarvon which was a fairly big place by outback W.A standards, [...]

It was our earliest wake up yet 4am but we were rewarded with an ever changing sky a good stretch of road with beautiful vistas and perfect temperatures (for a while at least). It’s not only the distances that are big out here the vehicles are too. We also encountered an unusual airstrip, the main [...]
